Welcome to the Franklin County Down Syndrome Society! Officially created on May 27, 2009, we are a nonprofit organization established to support parents of children with Down syndrome as well as teens and adults with Down syndrome in our community. The FCDSS was founded by Matthew and Shannon McArdle whose younger son, Logan, has Down syndrome.

Located along the Canadian border in northern New York state, Franklin County is home to about 51,000 people who live in the county's borders which encompasses roughly 1,600 square miles. Franklin County includes rural, small towns with the three main population centers of Malone, Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake. The county was established on March 11, 1808 and was formed from neighboring Clinton county.
